My goal here is to STANDARDIZE the format and put limits to character powers. Why would I want to do that? Firstly, having high-power characters means having HIGH-POWER enemies. While that may sound exciting to some, it doesn't always work. The tension around the mortality of characters *despite* their powers is the stuff that memorable and lovable characters are made of, not the other way around.

This time, we want characters to face problems and adversities by using things *other* than their powers all the time, like their wit or skills or charisma.

Also, game-wise, if we have high-power enemies for one story, in all likelihood that means the next GM has to have a villain that is even more powerful to top the previous one. And the next villain. And so on. While not always true, setting a close power limit to all characters has a large chance of avoiding this "Dragon Ball Z"-ish rut altogether.

Having large power gaps between characters is a no-no. Always. Let's do our best to make our characters' powers more down-to-earth. ^^

Anyway, those are my two cents. Let me know what you guys think. ^^

POWERS explanations

I propose two types of powers that characters in Phantasma could broadly fall under:
1. Innate
2. Acquired

I. Innate
Those with Innate powers are those who basically see their powers as an extension of themselves. They could either be born with them, or have seen their powers appear upon reaching a certain age. It could be genetically inherited, a gift or a curse, or some sort of superhero/mutant power come to light.

Advantages:
* can use powers a lot more times a day than those from the Acquired class before getting tired
* power growth involves improvement of one or all existing powers

Disadvantages:
* fewer overall powers
* cannot "learn" new abilities


PROPOSED POWER-USAGE LIMIT for Innate characters:
For game purposes, we should set a *standard* number for the number of times a person with Innate abilities can use powers.

I therefore propose the maximum allowed number to be 12 upon character creation, meaning that all characters under the Innate abilities group can use their COMBAT-RELATED powers twelve times a day (NOT per power). This high number is offset by the limited number of powers they can choose from.

NOTE: Recommendation (not a rule) - people with Innate abilities would do well as front-line types, meaning more athletic than average

II. Acquired
Acquired powers are commonly those a character learned, whether from long years of study and training, from rare books, from a mentor, or from other sources. They did not suddenly spring forth, but required of them effort to learn and study, unlocking their abilities to manipulate the things and the energies around them.

Advantages:
* has a lot of powers
* power growth involves learning new spells/abilities or variants of existing ones

Disadvantages:
* can only use abilities a handful of times a day
* spells do not "upgrade" (upgraded or variant versions of existing spells should be considered as new spells)


PROPOSED POWER-USAGE LIMIT for Acquired characters:
For game purposes, we should set a *standard* number for the number of times a person with Acquired abilities can cast COMBAT-RELATED spells.

I therefore propose the maximum allowed number to be 6 upon character creation, meaning that all characters under the Acquired abilities group can cast a maximum of six of their COMBAT-RELATED spells a day (NOT per spell). This low number is offset by the number of various abilities that they can choose from.

NOTE: Recommendation (not a rule) - people with Acquired abilities are mostly mage-types, and are considered a bit more physically weak or fragile than average

II. BRIEF HISTORY + CURRENT BACKGROUND
Erie came from a well-to-do family from Sussex, England. She has had a stubborn personality since childhood, and has started to show an interest in the supernatural at a young age - much to the dismay of her conservative family. A bike accident when she was eight became the turning point to awakening her innate powers.

She moved to Sojourn when she was 15, citing better educational opportunities to her parents when in truth she simply wants to live close to the firearms shop/ammo foundry ran by a cousin (who also happens to share her interest in collecting vintage weapons). Her interest in the paranormal and her budding powers caught the attention of some people, and a year later she has started to do jobs with the rest of the Phantasma group precisely because it caters to her hunger for more information on the supernatural.

She currently uses a replica of a British SMLE No.4 Mk. I with a hunting scope as her primary ghost-hunting weapon, and reloads using charger clips so she can touch the bullets directly and imbue them with spiritual energy before firing. With it, she is capable of hitting most ghostly targets at 300-600 yards away.

Personality Type : Introvert - stable and serious

Other Personality Notes :
Sometimes, Erie can be tactless or blunt without meaning to, stating sensitive remarks in a matter-of-fact way. She's also the type to focus on something that she feels deserves her attention almost obsessively.

While a smart girl, Erie tends to ignore topics that do not interest her much (which includes most of her school subjects) and does enough just to pass. When it comes to the topic of the paranormal, history, or vintage weapons, it becomes a completely different story.

Motivation + Perspective : "Knowledge is power." (Knowledge, Education)

Strengths & Weaknesses :
Erie is fairly athletic, and has more stamina than most would give her credit for. She joined the track team and put in enough effort to be considered for the varsity - mainly because it guarantees her an automatic passing grade for Physical Education

Erie is also a fairly good marksman.

The heat is one thing she is weak against. She is lazy when the weather is warm, and is especially lethargic during the summer. Because of this, Erie never took the time to learn how to swim.

She is also - surprisingly - very weak against horror movies and snuff films, and the sight of blood makes her feel dizzy.

Other Skills of Note :
- Good at memorizing and recalling maps and locations
- Good at the repair and maintenance of vintage firearms
- Can drive! Incidentally, she also taught herself how to hot-wire most vehicles
- Okay with hosting parties and mingling in high society

Power Type : Innate
Power Usage Limit Per Day : 12 (tentative, yes?)

Primary Combat-Related Power : Imbue
Erie can imbue an object with spiritual energy, enough for that said object to affect supernatural entities. She can also only imbue ONE object at any given time; the object must also be small enough to fit on her palm (pebbles, marbles, bullets, and - heheh - playing cards), and the imbued energy dissipates after only five seconds. It is, however, more than enough time for a bullet to reach its target.

NOTE: Imbue does *not* make an imbued object stronger or anything. It simply allows the object in question to affect a supernatural target the same way it would affect a physical target. So, an imbued bullet will make a "wound" when fired at a ghost the same way it would a person.

Secondary Combat-Related Power : none

Other Powers Not Related To Combat :

* Supernatural Sight
Can sense spiritual or magical sources within 60 feet; always active

* Psychic Whisper
Can send a mental "whisper" to a receptive person within 60 feet.

* Arcane Graffiti
Can write a symbol that contains a psychic whisper, and will be "heard" when the symbol is touched by a receptive person. Symbol's power lasts for 3 days.

Err I didn't know how to make Asaku conform to the new err "rules?" especially among the powers without losing what made her Asaku. So instead I made some changes and sort of development that happened to her that I didn't write up too long, but I hope this version will work out.

Btw tell me if its better if we all went to school or some alternative.


Aoki Asaku, 18
Foreigner; Shinigami (if I have to Red Pomegranate or Black Fig [not sure which one yet])

Hair color and style : White, but is frequently dyed to keep it black. She keeps it long preferring not to cut it whenever possible, she also prefers to leave it down or tied behind her neck.

Build : Athletic
Height : 5’6

Usual clothing / dress style : Conservative
Asaku prefers clothes that doesn't expose her skin, some of them are custom made by or ordered from “trusted” black market pals. From double sided bullet-proof coats (costume change and fighting fit), experimental anti- bullet fiber body suits and custom steel plated black boots (made from some tough new fiber and shock absorbing foam for extra comfort XD).

II. BRIEF HISTORY + CURRENT BACKGROUND
Asaku came from a wealthy and powerful clan in Japan. Her birth name was Tsukikage Tsukasa. Everyone born of the Tsukikage line holds the ability to create things from nothing to a certain degree. However Asaku was unfortunate and was considered a cursed child not only for her inability to materialize matter but also for her physical appearance. She was shunned away even by her own parents and sibling.

Only her Grandmother, Tsukikage Aoki, was different. She kept her from harm, trained her how to utilize her power to the fullest, she taught her the altered family sword style as well as how to read and speak in English. She then sent her away to America at the age of 14 to a trusted old friend, with a small fortune and two heirlooms, telling her never to come home again.

After her arrival in the states seemed peaceful at first, but series of assassins came for her life (she doesn’t know it but they’re after the heirloom her mother gave her and preferably over her dead body). After surviving the first wave with the help of her grandmother’s friend, she had decided to travel while hiding. She did everything she could think of to throw her pursuers off. New identities, Different looks, switching locations often. Each time she was found she moves away quickly.

So far she has found some peace and quiet in sojourn. She has made a decision not to unleash her true abilities unless she’s found. She makes a living doing odd and stealing, choosing to save her money for emergencies. She was scouted to join the Phantasma Club, which she agreed to be part of for as long as she could stay.

Paranormal Exposure : Quite a bit

Personality Type : Antisocial: ruthless, sneaky and deceptive

Other Personality Notes :
Deep inside Asaku is a selfish person who has come to only truly care for herself. She will act like she isn’t though- and she’s very good at it. She will smile a lot and be helpful, especially to people who she believe she’ll merit from being good.

She doesn’t like having any skin to skin contact with anyone, so she chooses clothes that would prevent that. Any sexual advances (from both genders) will be met with violence at the first offense, deadly force at the second.

Motivation + Perspective :
"Survival of the fittest." (Strength, Survival)
"Revenge is sweet." (Vengeance, Conquest)

Strengths & Weaknesses :
Asaku is very athletic and when not trying to practice the use of her "Ki" or working she spends her time working out and improving her physical performance.

She is a skilled swordswoman of the alternate Tsukikage clan style and an expert gunslinger at close ranges. Both of these combined with her battle honed fighting instinct makes her quite dangerous to have as an enemy.

She hates seeing her own blood, especially when she feels pain. For some reason her morality lowers the more she sees it making her more and more ruthless in a fight. This also makes her less rational and logical, making her attack more wildly and possibly tire herself out. She recovers from it after healing or after she wakes up after sleeping or passing out.

Alcohol is something she doesn’t want in her system. Her tolerance for it is probably quite low since she never drinks, she doesn’t even want to smell the stuff. Even inhaling alcohol that’s use to sterilize wounds would make her dizzy if she breathes enough in.

She loves to eat, since she burns it all up anyway. It's hard for her to pass up a free meal (even if he instincts tell her something dangerous is up). It’s most likely her one normal pleasure in life.

Limiters “Kage” and “Hikari” – Using her power she manipulated “Kage”, a gun that her grandmother made for her, into a bracelet and chain that is connected to “Hikari”, a sword heirloom her grandmother gave her. She made the bracelet -which is actually more like shackle- with a lock so that it can’t be separated from her easily (there is no key, she has to pick the locks open). Kage’s new form serves as a reminder to her not to use her powers at all if possible.

Other Skills of Note :
-Very efficient and skilled at picking locks and hot-wiring vehicles.
-She isn't happy or proud about it, but she has a heightened sense of smell.
-Acting and Lying comes very easy to her.
-An expert pickpocket, she can quickly steal a person’s wallet, take a few bills or identification and place it back without getting noticed. (People she acquainted with and the people they’re acquainted with- that she knows about- are off limits.)

IV. POWERS

Power Type : Innate
Power Usage Limit Per Day : Unlimited (Under Self-Imposed Ban)

Primary Combat-Related Power : Faux Matter
Asaku is able to create items out from nothingness. But such creations are temporary, invisible and will cease to exist at a certain distance from her. These objects have both physical and immaterial properties and can affect both planes of existence. The use of this skill is almost as simple as breathing to Asaku and expends nearly none of her magical energy. Although creating a certain number of items expends a lot of her mental energy.

Note: She had ban herself from using this because the blade she created for Hikari which was once a translucent sword is now an invisible one and wouldn’t disappear no matter what she tried.

Secondary Combat-Related Power: Matter Manipulation
If “Hikari” and “Kage” are away from Asaku’s person, her original power surfaces. Rather than being able to create matter she is able to control matter around and even in her. Unlike “Faux Matter” this ability drains Asaku’s physical, spiritual and mental energies.

Note: Her last use of it was to transform “Kage” into a bracelet, that is locked to her wrist, and a long chain that is connected to “Hikari” and carved with seal written in Kanji. It also serves as a reminder keep the use of her power to none as much as possible.

Power Type : Acquired
Power Usage Limit Per Day : Three to Four times

Ki: After Asaku had banned herself from using her true powers she had sought out training from a Martial artist who had mastered the use of “Ki”. The training was painful and horrible and at many times she wished to kill her teacher, but she managed to learn some degree of control of her use of her own Ki.

Note: Her "Ki" capacity is quite high however her control is lacking and she tends to use too much of her "Ki". Using it three times is her safe limit, the forth use will render her too tired to run, protect herself or worse drain her enough to make her faint.

Favorite Combat-Related Spell : “Ki Blade”
The “Ki Blade” is a skill where she lets her Ki flow onto her blade and coats it with her own energy. This magnifies an attack from her by three fold.

Reserve Combat-Related Spell 1 : “Ki Burst Sho (1)”
The “Ki Burst” is a skill that is half similar to the “Ki Blade”. She lets her Ki flow onto her blade and gathers it there. Once she has gathered enough she swings her sword allowing the Ki to fly from her and towards her target.

Reserve Combat-Related Spell 2 : “Ki Burst Ni (2)”
A variation of the “Ki Burst” where instead of a blade, she places her Ki onto a projectile like a bullet or something that she’ll throw.

Other Powers Not Related To Combat :
Heightened Spiritual Sense – can sense spiritual and magical sources within a 100 feet. But she’s good at pinpointing exactly where it is. Always on.

Lock out – this ability completely protects Asaku from mind reading, mind control or possession. It also prevents people from talking to her from receiving telepathic messages and from her sending them. Always on.

Aura Masking – she is able to mask her aura or presence as one of a nearby animal(s).

Tell me what you think. I really liked the two classes of powers. I think it really fit into what I had in mind for Gael in the first place. It all makes sense. I. APPEARANCE

Skintone : Light

Hair color and style : Sky blue hair; length depends on present gender

In girl form, her hair is a light shade of sky blue and it flows down all the way to the small of her back with natural cute curls and waves. She usually has her hair down.

In boy form, his hair is short and almost always perfect, almost never a strand out of place.

Build : Average
Height : 5'5" / 5'7'

Usual clothing / dress style : Classy, Preppy

In girl form, Gael favors dresses and skirt outfits in light fabrics and pastel colors. She rarely wears pants, unless she has to.

In boy form, Gael favors collared shirts and tailored pants with comfortable, but sturdy footwear.

II. BRIEF HISTORY + CURRENT BACKGROUND

Gael is half Sidhe, half pixie. Her birth caused quite a bit of controversy in the more conservative Seelie Sidhe courts, for the Seelie Sidhe prefered to mate with their own kind. Gael's birth was considered a travesty and thus she was supposed to be banished as a Changeling, fated never to meet her parents and to never know her Fey heritage. By a twist of fate, she was rescued by her present guardian, Abnoba, Sidhe goddess of Forest and Rivers, who decided to keep her as her own.

She grew up in Abnoba's forest domain, living amongst different kinds of Fey and slowly fostering her various Fey powers inherited from her lost parents. Humans were frequent in the domain as Abnoba maintained a friendly outlook towards them. Gael was very curious about them and made sure to help them whenever they got lost within the twists and turns of the enchanted forest.

Gael came to be at Soujorn after she came across a group of humans who aligned themselves with Phantasma. Apparently, Abnoba was one of their contacts and knowing of Gael's curiosity and interest towards the outside world, encouraged her to stay with them for a while. In Soujorn, she decided to take on her male form, as she didn't wish to cause any inconvenience towards Abnoba. Her appearance as a female was known and should she come across any of Abnoba's enemies, it might spell trouble. She does revert to her more natural female form when she is within very secure locations, such as the Phantasma dorms.

Other Personality Notes :
Gael is very friendly, humble, and approachable. S/he's always polite and accommodating to everyone. Obviously, s/he gets along with most everyone. S/he would never be caught saying something terribly bad about anybody.

S/he also likes keeping busy. S/he's always doing something. S/he juggles school, clubs, social life, hobbies, and Phantasma all at the same time. S/he always seems to find time for something.

Gael is always on hand to help. S/he's happiest when s/he is helping others her/his own little ways.

Strengths & Weaknesses :
Gael is usually unerringly cheerful and energetic, particularly during mornings and sunny days. It would take something really catastrophic to ruin her mood on these times.

It takes a lot to anger or upset Gael. S/he tends to approach matters in a calm and rational way, but it doesn't mean that s/he'd just let anything slide. S/he stands up for her beliefs on the oft chance that they are challenged. S/he is particularly against anything that threatens nature.

Despite her/his strengths, Gael isn't emotionally invulnerable and there are times when s/he would need some time to cry and be alone for some time. S/he isn't immune to moments of stress, frustration and depression and some moping and crying is her/his way of dealing with it all.

For some reason, Gael seems to usually end up as a Damsel in Distress. Must be due to her/his mostly defensive abilities, fey charm, and that s/he's the "Princess" of the group.

Anything highly techie or removed from nature overwhelms and repels her. They could even weaken her with prolonged exposure and use. She only uses computers and cellphones when absolutely necessary and not for very long (s/he's become a fast and accurate typist because of this, lol). Planes are just instruments of evil and being locked in one for hours could weaken her severely.

And she must never be given alcohol. Fey are very sensitive to it and she doesn't have any tolerance against its effects.

Gael could only really recharge her/his powers by spending some time with nature, usually by hanging out in the gardens under the sun.

Other Skills of Note :
- Talented writer and swimmer.
- Good with crafts, such as sewing, knitting, scrapbooking, etc.
- Has a way with children and animals.
- Has good people skills.
- Good at horseback riding, even without a saddle.

IV. POWERS

Power Type : Innate
Power Usage Limit Per Day : 12?


Primary Combat-Related Power : Energy Barrier
S/he controls a barrier that s/he's been training with for a while. There are three known levels of it. S/he's managed to perfect the use of the first level, which is the Basic Defense Barrier. His/her barrier could stretch to protect a certain territory. Almost nothing could penetrate it. The second level is the Trapping Barrier and s/he is working on mastering it. As its name suggests, it can trap anything. Anything can get in, but nothing can get out. It can be used to trap anything. The third and final level is the Converging Barrier. The barrier shrinks and eventually crushes whatever is trapped inside. It can also be used to suck up the life force of anything organic trapped inside. The barrier is made up of energy from nature. The energy is just borrowed and it eventually goes back to nature where it belongs.

Gael then, basically, borrows energy from nature to construct the barrier. For now, s/he can hold the barrier up to about an hour, or until s/he completely tires out.

Current Level Statistics:
Level: 2 Trapping Barrier
Range: 1km x 50 storeys
Strength: Could withstand continuous opposing forces for an hour. Really big, solid things could slowly wear away at it though.
Casting: Takes an instant to cast. Needs recasting and 5 seconds interval before changing levels.

* Gael can extend the barrier, but not move it.
* Gael's barrier probably makes incorporeal beings feel a disturbance when they get into contact with it. It'd be like a ground. XD As for energy, if too close, it may get sucked into the barrier as energy is its source of power.

Secondary Combat-Related Power : Preternatural Strength
Gael is physically stronger than your average human being with a similar build and athleticism. S/he can effortlessly lift and throw some medium-sized objects weighing 25 kilograms at the most. Crushing stone objects is easy, while bending metal could require a bit more effort. This preternatural strength is of course useless when she is weakened or drained of energy.

Other Powers Not Related To Combat :
* Delayed Aging
Can appear younger than her actual human years; currently looks 16-18 years old when s/he's actually 50 human years old.

* Healing
Can heal using her hands and the barrier; life-threatening injuries would take more time and energy. Gael also has a healing and comforting touch, meaning that others feel safe and comforted with just a touch, a word, and a smile from him/her.

* Identifying Other Beings
Can identify whatever preternatural beings she comes across; usually a passive ability, but can also be used to find specific beings within the range of 20-50 meters all around.

* Shapeshifting
Can shapeshift from female to male to back again and into a cat form.

* Glamor
Can make her appearance seem more human and convince other humans and beings that s/he is nothing really special.

* Fey Charm
Can make most any being like her/her without conscious action or intent.

(He’s tall (around 5’9), thin and wispy looking. Seth tends to wear his hair long (because he’s either far too busy to get a hair cut or he really can’t), which he ties back into a rough ponytail when it gets in the way.
Build : Slim
Height : 5’9

Usual clothing / dress style : (anything that’s comfortable)
Dressing up, he wears long sleeved shirts (usually a white buttoned shirt underneath a green sweater) to hide the bandages around his wrists. He also wears a pair of glasses because his vision is pretty bad.

II. BRIEF HISTORY + CURRENT BACKGROUND
Family:
He is actually a descendant of Nephelims hence his ability to manipulate Holy Energy and the fact that he’s suffering from Stigmata (there’s too much holy energy in his body to handle it). Unfortunately, his family being a really respectable political family and doesn’t want a scandal, he was 'disowned' when he was 5, once his abilities started manifesting themselves.

He was then adopted by his Grandfather (the Uncle of his Mother, like Seth he too inherited the ability to manipulate holy energy because of their bloodline) who trained him to control his powers.

To this day his parents have no idea that he is alive or their son.

Friend:
He and Roviden had met each other during nursery and had been ‘frienemies’ ever since. Seth considers him as a friend (an annoying one, but after all those years he’s learned to deal with it) though he’s pretty sure Roviden considers him as more of a rival of some sort.

Seth is also a fan of Roviden’s father Nathaniel, an author (and therefore Seth, being the book nerd that he is, was awestruck the first time he met him), and because they live in the same apartment complex, he would sometimes visit Roviden and his father.

Other Phantasma Seniors:
Since they’ve been through a lot already, he has a deep respect the other Phantasma Seniors he considers them as friends but there will be times where he would shut them out still.

Current:
This year, he was forced by his Grandfather to go to school despite his wish to stay with him if only for this year because his ‘Grandad’ is now very weak and needed to be taken care of. Fortunately his grandfather is now being taken care of Roviden’s father while Seth is away.

Strengths & Weaknesses :
This is probably because of the way he was raised by he was Grandfather but he is very strict when it comes to rules and orders. He doesn’t like people bending or breaking the rules. Seth is also a bit of a perfectionist (atleast when it comes to what he does).

Unfortunately, he’s not really good at expressing his feelings because he thinks that it would impair his judgment. He prefers to keep most people up to a certain distance. Due to his background with his parents, he rarely trusts people wholeheartedly but when that person gains his trust, he is very loyal would do anything for them.

Other Skills of Note :

-He’s not very good in keeping time, especially when he’s engrossed in a good book.

- He can play the piano

- He can easily do something that he’s learned from reading/studying and able to recall most of what he’s read.

Summons a shield Seth can use to protect himself and other people. He sometimes uses this as a weapon when he throws it at his enemies.

Secondary Combat-Related Power : (Michael’s Feather)
A sword he can summon which he uses to exorcise/fight demons and ghosts. It is an artifact that has been handed down to him by his Grandfather (Michel’s side of the family) since he is now the new Heir of the Angel Summoners. He a small silver bracelet (underneath all that clothing lol) around his right wrist (that he can’t off… even when sleeping) with a small feather charm hanging around it. The chain of the bracelet has a magical and only if the person who’s using it is either dead or unable to summon can it be removed. (can affect incorporeal)

Favorite Combat-Related Spell : (Moriel’s Wrath)
Summons the Angel Moriel to blow away the enemies around him. ( At the moment it should be 5 meters. And yes it’s like a Jedi Push thingy… only shinier and more feathers and it affects incorporeal beings.)Think of it as a blast of holy power… instead of the force lol

Reserve Combat-Related Spell 1 : (Heaven’s Blessing)
Grants at most 3 targets the ability to move faster and become stronger.

Reserve Combat-Related Spell 2 : (Michael’s Seal)
Seals off the most of a Strong Demon's abilities by summoning the Archangel Michael.In Seth's case this can only be performed once a month as it would take a lot of energy to summon. After which he needs to recover for a week before actually casting anything at all.

Reserve Combat-Related Spell 3 : (Suriel’s Touch)
He can summon the Angel Suriel to heal injuries. (will depend on Gm-sama ^^; stop the healing where it left off.)

Kiss of Empowerment: Through a deep kiss as a means of contact, the ability user can temporarily boost another person's spiritual powers for 15 seconds. Boost differs according to the specific abilities being improved.

b) Defense+ for primarily defensive abilities like barriers and shields
c) Duration+ for non-damaging abilities and support abilities that do not fit in the previous categories
This ability is not gender-specific, and will work on people of any gender. A known side effect of this power is if the ability user makes contact via deep kiss towards another person with hidden latent powers, those powers have a possibility of being awakened. It has no effect on ordinary people with no hidden powers.

Flight
Grants a target with a pair of wings that he/she can use to fly for 10 minutes, if hit the wings will automatically disappear.

It uses a spell to make its body look more human. It has short black hair (boy version), pale white skin and violet eyes. It usually wears a long sleeved black demon style hoodie (that has belts hanging off the ends) pants, rubber shoes and elbow length gloves with blue (right hand) and red (left hand) attached to the back of the hand.

Though it usually dresses up as a boy, it used to sometimes wear girl’s clothing (normally to attract predators which it kills just for fun) and uses the name Maria as opposed to Marion.

Build : Since it’s currently possessing a doll (hence the name) it’s slim and VERY light weight.
Height : 4 flat

II. BRIEF HISTORY + CURRENT BACKGROUND
From what it can remember, it’s a ghost of a really powerful wizard/witch. It made a deal with the once ruling family of the land but the family didn’t keep their end of the bargain and had the wizard/witch killed.

Defeated by Seth, it now works under him during the times when he can’t go in missions (atleast until it frees itself).

Additional Interesting Details:
Being a possessed doll, it doesn’t really care much for living quarters and would sometimes just sleep inside closets (especially those old thick ones) because it provides much needed sound proofing.

It also has a pet spider (about the size of a normal man’s head that it keeps in the space between it’s head and hoodie), which it lovingly calls George. One mustn’t take this as a hint of kindness as Marion tends to use George in pranks or spell practice, despite all this George is a very loyal pet and would return to it’s master every time.

It also excels in History and anything that has got to do with the past, as it’s live through it.

When it gets angry or forgets itself it tends to speak in his old medieval accent. It is also touchy when it comes to it’s height (it used to be tall).

Strengths & Weaknesses :
What it lacks in strength it makes up for in spells. It used to be a very powerful wizard (or witch) and despite loosing most of it’s abilities, it still has enough power to cause trouble for a lot of people.

Physically, it is very weak and it tries to avoid close range battle as much as possible.

Unfortunately, it’s spells DOES tend to hit it’s allies (especially if they’re in the area where it casts it spells) and therefore it’s required for everyone to wear a ring so that it can track down all of it’s allies and know where NOT to send shards of killer ice raining down on them.

Other Skills of Note :

- Because it’s dead and a doll, it can’t feel or taste anything. (Would sometimes get the tastes of food wrong when asked for it’s feedback)

- It also doesn’t tire like regular people. It just runs out of mana and then it’ll just drop to the ground until it recharges.

- Since it likes destroying things, it’s very good at it.

- It’s also very flexible, it can even turn it’s head around ala exorcist type.

- Doesn’t show it’s destructive tendencies except to those people it really knows it. Therefore in school, it’s a friendly, teacher’s pet and would sometimes use that to it’s advantage. And even if people told them what it really is, no one would believe them.

- Anyone can technically heal it, a person can cast a spell on it, or someone can just put it all back together sort of like a human humpty dumpty.

- Since it’s a soul inhabiting a doll, if anyone manages to posses him, it’ll just take on the shape of the doll and not have it’s abilities since that’s tied to Marion/Maria’s soul.

Sends large ice shards to pelt the target area (30 yards) for 5 turns.

Reserve Combat-Related Spell 3 : (Ice Wall)
Raises a thick wall of ice on an area of 5 yards to protect the caster. The wall will stay for 6 turns or until the enemy breaks through the wall.

Reserve Combat-Related Spell 4 : (Fire Blast)
A wave of flame radiates outward from the caster, damaging all enemies caught within the blast and knocking them back

Ignite
Set a specific target on fire

Elemental Puppets
Creates a puppet out of fire or ice.

Ice Path
Freezes the water underneath Marion, which it can use to cross over water.

Welder
Heats the air surrounding the caster’s hand so much that it looks like it’s on fire and it’s hot enough to melt through metal.

Supernatural Sight
Can sense spiritual or magical sources within 60 feet; always active

Illusion
Casts an illusion on itself to make itself look more human and blend in. It sometimes casts a spell to make its gloves invisible because it’s a bit unusual.

Rune keeps her long hair, down or in a pony tail tied once, twice or thrice depending on what she's going to be doing. She's quite attached to it, because her mother tells her that "he is a cool young man".

Build : Athletic
Height : 5'8

Usual clothing / dress style : Casual Guy/Gentleman
Rune prefers wearing men's clothes. Although most of which are chosen by her mother, she chooses what she wears according to her mood or comfort desire. Her wardrobe contains just about every style for men (and some formal dress sets and female school uniforms, because she can't get out of the rules even if she pleaded insanity) but she prefers anything that doesn’t attract too much attention... on a girl.

II. BRIEF HISTORY + CURRENT BACKGROUND
Rune's family has always been doing well in terms of money, that anything that she and her siblings wanted were usually they had to work on their own. Rune's belief that she's a boy has always been something that she believed since she could remember. Her mother spoils her and treats her as her favorite "son".

Magic wasn't rare in the family, but it always was different form each other. No one could teach another how to wake or use their powers. Rune has forgotten how she discovered hers, but claims it might have started out as one of her lucid dreams.

She's one year level below her brother, because she's quite weak when it comes studying.

Paranormal Exposure : Quite a bit
Accidentally discovering her powers, Rune wasted no time exploring and playing with it. Her abilities lead her to learn certain things safely, most of the time. Her family are an odd bunch too, each having a different power. It's quite rare for two people in the family to have a power similar to someone else, even a distant cousin. But she's watched and followed them with her power on occasions and learned quite a bit.

Personality Type : Weird: Friendly, Moody, Unconsciously Feminine, Impatiently Stupid and Explosive Violent.

Other Personality Notes :
"Believes she's a guy, don't tell her otherwise!" - Rune is a rather strange teenage girl. In fact if she's ever called or referred to as a girl (when she's already done her introductions), expect an ambulance coming soon or a funeral.
"When she's angry it's like her eyes turn the color of her hair!" - Rune's temper is rather bad, and she will easily resort to force when provoked.

Motivation + Perspective :
"Just have a good time!" (Freedom, Pleasure)
Rune works hard to be accepted like any other guy, either by deed or by force. She enjoys the outdoors and fun and exciting things.

Strengths & Weaknesses :
Rune is remarkably athletic; she's much fitter, stronger and flexible than she looks. With such great physical gifts Rune has trained in several forms of martial arts.

She's probably the last person you wish to have with you in somewhere educational, she swears she'll die of boredom.

She'll never admit it or she'll probably sky dive or bungee jump out of a helicopter and die before she would, but she's terrified of really high places. (Five or so stories are tolerable)

She's afraid of her own period, especially the blood.

Other Skills of Note :
-Great at cooking, except her foods look so disgusting at times.
-If it's something one can do with the body, chances are she can do it or learn to do it easily.
-She can throw a dart and hit her target mark 90+% of the time. And she also believes she can do the same with just about anything she can throw the same way.
-she can crush an Apple (one of those crunchy ones) with one hand (yes, she's proud of it.)

Power Type : Innate
Power Usage Limit Per Day : 8

Primary Combat-Related Power: Astral Form
Rune can project her mind into spiritual body. This entity appears exactly like her except in magic/spiritual form. She can fight even better than she could in this form than her real body; since a spirit body doesn’t actually breathe it just simulates it. If the body takes too much damage it might lose magical integrity and break apart and force Rune's mind back to her own body. She'll feel the pain from the damage if she returns to her body in this way. She can either use this ability again to rejoin her friends in battle. If the damage she took was very bad, there is a possibility she will loose consciousness upon returning to her body. If the damage isn’t much her second ability allows her to regenerate her spirit body.

Secondary Combat-Related Power: Magnify / Minimize
In Astral form Rune's magic/spirit body can act as a vacuum for the surrounding magic energy. She can use this ability when in contact with a friend or foe. Once in contact with someone her spirit body begins to gather surrounding magic then gives it to the one she's in contact with or she can drain the one she's attached to, then she can give the drained energy to someone else or heal her spirit body.

Other Powers Not Related To Combat:
Daywalker - a weaker form of Rune's Astral Form. In this form, she doesn’t need to leave her body; her mind controls the spirit form remotely. She can go on with her day, while she let the spirit wander around where she wants to look around. (Yes, she used it to cheat once.) She can't do much with this body other than look around and lift very light things like paper. She can see and hear what her spirit body does in her left eye and ear. This form lasts until she chooses to break it or forced to break it. This spirit body is very hard to harm as it has very little magical substance and connection to her.

Spiritual Sight - when not in her Astral form, Rune can only sense spirits and magical elements (that have no visual trace in the physical world) that are within her sights.

Astral Sensitivity - an ability only active in her astral form. Rune becomes hyper sensitive to the presence of magic and spirits around her. This tied with her trained body (that sort of carries over to her astral form) allows her to react quickly and save her spiritual hide.

Rozen’s family is well off, having several successful businesses. His life though quite normal and uneventful is mostly a blur of things related to his condition. Exposure to one of their family’s haunted mansions kept him fairly sensitive to the occult. He awakened his powers due to stress and moments of panic while at said mansion.

Having lived a sheltered life, Rozen is still naïve and idealistic. However, he does not go around involving himself in others affairs or forcing his opinion on them. He keeps his mouth shut about things he’s not sure about.

Breeze: (Area spell) Minor wind control. Distance limit: 10 meters from Rozen. This spell allows Rozen to control the wind around the area limit but not to the point that it is able to cause much damage.

Breath Type 1: (One person per cast) Minor healing ability. It is able to cure small scratches and minor bruising. Special Effect: It can also help calm someone down.

Breath Type 2: (One person per cast) This spell helps someone concentrate by keeping the air around them clean and cool. It, like the refreshing wind, helps calm them down and make them feel good (if not, just a bit better).

Refreshing wind: (Area spell) This spell helps calm people down within a 2 meter area.

Plain one colored or grungy shirts or sweaters, jeans, cargo or long cotton pants, cool dark colored jackets and comfortable footwear are some of the clothes he’d wear. Usual colors are in white, brown, black and blue.

II. BRIEF HISTORY + CURRENT BACKGROUND
Due to his family’s involvement in the paranormal, Saeran has been exposed to it ever since he was born. His father, William Cain Calag, trains him and also educates him of the ‘mysterious world’ and other related subjects including those that are in their family archives and libraries. Although highly enthusiastic and interested in all of it, Saeran learned magic through theory as he has little magical abilities of his own.

Since he was young, he’s had a passion for books and gathering information. He wishes to become like his idol: a supernatural researcher of sorts. He retains some vague images of him as a lost child in the forest who was helped by a kind fey. When he was about ten, William finally allowed him to tag along with him on his missions and help out. He attracted Spirit in one of these missions and they’ve been together since.

He lives in England with William and takes care of the house often. His mother travels around for her work and sometimes she’d take the two with her when possible.

Saeran is often uncomfortable around others whom he does not consider his friends. It is obvious that he’s not good with interacting with people though he tries to respond properly. Though he still comes out as an obnoxious jerk who could care less for other people. In truth he tends to care a lot and would sometimes dwell upon screwed up interactions.

With his friends however, he’s a little different. He cares for them and tries to be more understanding and nicer. At times to the extreme where he’s sacrificing for their comfort and safety. His friends usually belong to the ‘other world’ though they take on a human appearance.

(Spirit): Has control and a connection with Spirit, a deity in the figure of a white swallow. It has a human form that it does not show in the presence of humans.

Details on Spirit:

(Object Manipulation) Can "possess" items and make them move, but doing so requires Spirit's complete presence. The possessed item's movement is limited to its normal movement range (he can make a teddy bear walk, but he can't make a glass bend over)

(Non-corporeal) Can pass through solid matter.

(Telepathic Connection) Saeran and Spirit have some connection. They also have a mind link where they can talk to each other using this and even show each other what they have seen happen somewhere else.

(Shape Changing) Spirit can shift its shape to other objects and at times COULD be seen by humans in this form. Objects are limited to inanimate objects and simple items (Spirit can become a blanket or a kettle, but not a motherboard complete with circuitry and integrated chips).
  • Accessories: When Spirit turns into an item. If he is affected by Saeran’s emotions, the side effect (like blazing fire) won’t be seen by normal people)
  • Wings: This is used by Spirit to get Saeran out of trouble. To move the wings, Saeran has to direct Spirit. An even deeper connection (and years) would be required for the two of them to act like one. It is a rare occurrence for Spirit to use this form, but it has happened a few times since (and against the will of Saeran).
  • Weapon: Bow and Arrow: The only weapon that Spirit has mastered. It can transform into other weapons but it may not hold its shape for very long. (For arrows, he can erase it at will.)

II. BRIEF HISTORY + CURRENT BACKGROUND
The Melanthios family had a long history of involvement in the preternatural. Until Adela, however, nearly 8 generations have passed since anyone in the family has been able to unlock their powers, which was still a mere leak.

When she was 5, her family went to their old vacation home where she inadvertently ended up in a hidden chamber. An old trunk reacted to her leaking magic, and opened to reveal an old grimoire...and Ariston the Shade, with whom she made a pact with the conditions: He replace her shadow; He would teach her; and not to dress in blue on a Sunday.

At the age of 10, Ariston had intentionally misguided her on a spell as a joke, not foreseeing what would happen. Adela went berserk and killed 4 people: Her parents, and their close personal friends; also leaving the house on the verge of collapse. She was found, unconscious near her parents’ bodies. When she woke up 3 days later, the first thing Ariston did was apologize profusely, but she remembered nothing that happened after trying to cast the spell. Ariston lied and said that the spell put her into a deep sleep. She was taken in by her paternal grandparents, who couldn’t bear to tell her that her parents had died, and made up a story that her parents went travelling around the world.

She earns high marks at school, through a mixture of actually knowing what the answers are, and cheating.

Gathering dark magic energy to her hand(s), she can send the blast of shadow energy directly at her target.

She can decay and rot what comes into contact with her body if she deeply wishes to do so. The atmosphere of her personal space becomes cold and dark when she is preparing to use it.

Envelops Adela in dark magic energy, before releasing it outwards to allies and enemies surrounding her.

Shade: Summons out a small incorporeal puppet that Adela (and Ariston) can shape to various miniature forms; control; see, hear and communicate through.

Shadow Storage: Adela can place her personal effects within a world beyond the shadows.

(Ariston) Connection: Adela and Ariston can speak telepathically with each other, and the connection can be used by Ariston to enter Adela’s dreams. Ariston can take full control of Adela’s body if she relinquishes control of it (or she can relinquish just a part, e.g. just her writing arm), and can also take control during times Adela is unconscious, though she’ll look more like she’s sleepwalking.

(Ariston) Communication: Ariston can speak vocally, and also send weak telepathic messages to others if the shadows are connected.

(Ariston) Knowledge: Ariston fully understands what’s written within the Grimoire and regularly teaches Adela. He also takes the notes for her during classes, and provides answers for questions she doesn’t know the answer to.

II. BRIEF HISTORY + CURRENT BACKGROUND
(Roviden is a half-demon from his mother's side. He never met his demon mother, and lived most of his life with his father in London. His father is a struggling writer who only had one good novel. They mostly lived off the commission of that one book, which gave him and his father a rather less than comfortable lifestyle.



Personality:


He is extremely FULL of himself. In spite of the fact that he is rude and obnoxious, people still seem to gravitate to him. He likes being the center of attention and hates slow and quiet people.

Because he works as a model, he often gets to school late and stays there only to skip classes or flirt with whomever catches his fancy or to get into fights with gang members.

It is easy for him to get what he wants whenever he feels like it.

Deep down, he actually is afraid to get close to people, because he fears that they might find out he is half a demon. Although he quickly becomes good friends(rival/enemy) with Seth…-_-

He likes dogs and chocolate and has a Dalmatian named Ala mode. He is often seen talking on the phone with one of his girlfriends (and/or fighting with Seth )

Third Unsealed Level (The final seal, he needs to drink blood from a someone with spiritual energy)

Favorite Combat-Related Spell : Greater Explosive Hellfire
Roviden becomes capable of delivering an explosive hellfire blow equivalent to the power of a C4 demolition charge. This ability can only be used once every duration of his unsealed transformation. His greater explosive hellfire does not affect or damage him.

Reserve Combat-Related Spell 1 Accelerated Healing
Roviden can heal minor wounds and injuries at an accelerated rate (think Wolverine).

Reserve Combat-Related Spell 2 : Canine Guardian
He can summon a Hell Hound and will fight along side with him.

Roviden becomes highly resistant to, but not completely immune, to the effects of heat, burning, or direct flame.
